The House of Friction (Pumpwerk Heimat)
February 8th - November 1st 2020, water tower of the Lokremise
As part of the exhibition Home! Sweet Home!, in 2013 the Kunstmuseum St. Gallen presented the work House of Friction by the local artist Christoph Büchel in the Water Tower at the Lokremise. In keeping with the theme of “the (not so) cozy home” Büchel’s installations are often physically and psychologically challenging for visitors. Narrow, claustrophobic rooms or extremely cold environments contrast with the idea of safety, protection, and security that we like to associate with our own home.
The installation will be open again on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting on February 8th 2020 until November 1st 2019.
Curator: Roland Wäspe
Closed shoes and robust cloths are strongly recommended for visitors entering the installation. Please also note that the installation is only open to visitors aged eighteen and older.
