Schools

Art affects all areas of life and can be integrated into teaching in diverse ways, across different subject areas. Whether a first look at art in the Kirchhoferhaus—gladly also in English—or a dialogue-based guided tour through the current exhibitions: the age-appropriate program from our educational program team expands children’s and teen’s horizon of experience and promotes their design and communication skills.

Program for school classes

Interactive guided tours | for all school levels

The temporary exhibitions at the Kunstmuseum are diverse, address different themes, and are therefore appropriate for school classes at all levels. During our interactive guided tours, we explore the exhibitions together with the children and teens and create connections to their own lives.

Colors & forms | for kindergarten and elementary school children

The guided tour «colors and forms» mediates a first look at art in the historical Kirchhoferhaus, which is very close to the Kunstmuseum St.Gallen. The small, didactic exhibition comprises several interactive stations and offers the opportunity to get to know the world of art in a playful way.

Colors & Shapes | for English classes

The interactive guided tour in English also takes place in the Kirchhoferhaus and corresponds thematically with the unit «World of colour» from the teaching material «Young World 2.» Here, pupils have the opportunity to practice in a playful way, the language skills they have learned.

kunst.lokbuch | for dedicated bloggers

Interested school classes become involved intensively, and over a longer time period with an exhibition in the art zone of the Lokremise, and publish their observations, impressions, and commentary on our blog:  www.kunstlokbuch.blogspot.com

Program for teaching staff

Introduction to the exhibitions

For every current exhibition, an introductory event is offered free of charge for teaching staff. In a short, guided tour, key thematic points and suggestions for museum visits with the class are offered.

Further education

Upon request, we will gladly organize further education for you, in which you will learn about methodic-didactic tools and work out ideas and suggestions to go into more deeply in class.
